CONFERENCE COMMITTEE 2020/2021
Noud Zuidberg - Chair
My name is Noud, I am 21 years old and I am the Chair of this lovely Committee. I am currently in my third year of the bachelor IR and love to explore somewhat controversial or out-of-the-box IR related topics (hence this committee). Next to drinking a lot of coffee and drowning in IR work, I really enjoy going to the gym, playing games, cooking and netflixing with my roommates. I also have a strange love for fun facts about random things so if you have one, hit me up or come talk to me during the Conference! Anyways, I hereby kindly invite you to come to our Conference as we put in a lot of hard work to make this possible and I promise that it will be very interesting and awesome!
Sam van der Merk - Commissioner of Acquisition
My name is Sam and I am 20 years old and I am this year’s acquisitioner of the Conference Committee. This means I am in charge of bringing in the dough. Together with my partner in crime Bart, I apply for funds and try to set up collaborations with partners to collect the money necessary to host our amazing conference. As you might have guessed, I am also an IR-student. Currently, I am in the third year of my studies and I hope to graduate at the end of this academic year. IR has been lovely, but all good (or sometimes not so good) things must come to an end. Luckily, we still have the chance to show you the incredible hard work we put into the conference this year and I hope to see you all there!
Georg Schneider - Speakers Coordinator
My name is Georg, and I am one of the two speakers coordinators of our committee. Together with Kiki, my job is to contact the speakers that will give lectures or workshops and try to fit them into an appealing day schedule. I am currently in my third year of IRIO and plan to graduate by the end of this year. Even though my time in Groningen has been incredible, mainly due to the many amazing people I got to meet, I am also very excited for what lays ahead of me. Next to my studies, I enjoy playing tennis, drinking coffee with friends, and watching Netflix. But I am basically down for anything with the right people. I am looking forward to getting to know you a little at our conference and hope you will enjoy the program we put together for you! See you then.

Robin van der Weele - Secretary
My name is Robin, I am 21 years old and I am secretary of the Conference Committee this year. I am in my third year of the IRIO Programme. What I like about the programme is learning how the world is organised in all kinds of organisations and institutions. My favourite courses so far were Theory of IR and IPE of Monetary Relations. In my free time I enjoy reading, doing yoga and spending time with family and friends. I also love cats, especially my own. To finance my studies, I work at a furniture store on the weekend. I hope to see you at the Clio Conference!
Eline Slotegraaf - Public Relations
My name is Eline and I am this years PR of the Conference Committee. I am 21 years young and I am currently in my second year of the bachelor IRIO. Besides being very interested in everything politics-related, I love games, singing, and spending time with my friends and family (and of course with my dog Buddy!). I love exploring the world and one item on my bucket list is to visit Machu Picchu in Peru. I also really like learning new languages. My new goal is to learn to speak Italian. I am already fluent in Spanish after spending a year abroad in Argentina at the age of 16. So if you are ever in need of some Spanish lessons; shoot me a message! I am happy to help. I hope to see you all at the Conference in April!
Friederike Lindenau - Speakers Coordinator
My name is Kiki and I am 22 years old and a third year. Together with Georg, I am responsible for contacting all the speakers as the Speakers Coordinator of the Conference Committee. My favorite part of the IRIO program has got to be everything related to International Law; I want to continue studying Human Rights and Humanitarian Law after my Bachelor. Next to university, I am a huge fitness freak. Lifting weight and HIIT workouts that push me past my limit are my favorite, but in general I just have to move or I am in a bad mood. So hit me up if you need any workouts!! I’m already looking super forward to seeing you all at our Conference in April, get hyped! I know I am!

Bart van Amersfoort - Treasurer
My name is Bart van Amersfoort, I’m 19 years old and this year I am the Treasurer of the Conference Committee. I am in charge of everything related to money. Next to making sure Noud does not throw away our entire budget on coffee, I help our acquisitioner Sam with obtaining the necessary funds. This year, I am in my second year of the bachelor IRIO, still not sure whether I’ll become a future world leader, the next Greta Thunberg or an overenthusiastic history teacher. Always in for a chat, so don’t hesitate to say hi to me during the conference to talk about our theme, to share your thoughts on Frysian independence or for some high quality unwanted advice. I am really excited to share our hard work and devotion with you during our conference! We rule, and the conference will as well!

Romy Nijhof - Board Representative
My name is Romy Nijhof, a 20 year old IRIO student from the Netherlands. I am the Commissioner of Corporate Relations within the Board of Clio as well as the Board Representative within the Conference Committee. My function entails that I am the contact person between the committee and the Board and ensure that the activities of the committee are in line with the broader policy of Clio. I am delighted about the fact that this is my second year within this amazing committee, as I still strongly believe in the project of organizing an interesting Conference together with like-minded peers. At the moment I am having the best time organizing this big event with the committee, and I cannot wait till you get to see all our hard work! See you in April!
