International Relations of the digital ageThe emergence of cyber-attacks and ‘fake news’ have shown that international politics and international relations have changed majorly. Security has moved beyond military capacity and national borders, but has instead become a global issue concerning us all. At the same time, an intense debate about the relationship between privacy and security has emerged, in
which corporations such as Facebook have acquired a crucial role in collecting and diffusing information. On the other hand, the digital age has created an interconnectedness which is beneficial in gaining insight in and knowledge of the current state of world affairs. Besides, new technologies have helped us to prevent and solve crimes, while the internet has established a forum where like-minded people can join each other to discuss and spread their ideas. |
